The drugstore is full of makeup, but it’s hard to know what is a hit, and what is a miss. I admit, I haven’t tried it all (but I aspire to!) I tend to be hesitant with drugstore complexion products. I’ve tried plenty of good face makeup from the drugstore, but my skin is sensitive so I’m always a little concerned that something new, especially from the drugstore, will set off a breakout.
I was sent the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Powder ages ago, then I re-purchased it myself. I like the color porcelain for my fair skin. This powder is light enough to set foundation, but has enough coverage to wear alone on a light-makeup day. This might be my favorite pressed powder ever– the salicylic acid in the formula helps control break-outs, and while matte this powder doesn’t feel drying on the skin. It’s long-wearing, with a unique texture that is blendable but not powdery. I don’t know if this would be suitable for dry skin.
The Wet ’n Wild Photo Focus Powder is creamy and lightweight. It’s more powdery than the Maybelline formula, but this also makes it more suitable for different skin types. It’s great for setting my concealer, but also my whole face. It doesn’t add coverage, but it sets and mattifies, and because of the lightweight texture it works well with lots of different foundations (even foundations with a matte finish). Plus, it’s made to be flashback resistant.
