Concealer has many different uses: covering up dark circles, concealing blemishes, highlighting features, priming eyelids… the list goes on. Of course, you can use one concealer to do all of these things. However, because I’m a little high-maintenence when it comes to makeup, I tend to use different concealers for different things. Recently, my go-to concealer for covering blemishes has been the Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer.
I got this concealer when it was on sale at Dillard’s (which was totally random). My skin was breaking out a lot at the time, so I was thrilled to find something that would help me a) hide my pimples and b) help get rid of my pimples. There’s nothing worse than your makeup aggravating a breakout, and I was hoping that this concealer would help me keep my skin under control.
First of all, it’s worth saying that this concealer does help with acne. If you have bad, cystic acne, it probably wouldn’t make much of a difference. But if you just have a few blemishes, dab a little of this concealer on. It dries very quickly, so you have to blend it out immediately, and I find that it blends out best with my fingers. Even though it’s a little annoying that this concealer dries so quickly, that’s part of what makes it effective in drying out blemishes. The formula contains salicylic acid, which is a well-known acne-fighting ingredient.
This isn’t a miracle product that will transform your skin, but it’s better than any other concealer for acne. Instead of just hiding your pimple, it helps take down some of the redness and swelling. So by the end of the day, your skin is looking better (and, perhaps more importantly, not worse!) I would never use this concealer under my eyes, because it would be way too drying and uncomfortable. But for it’s intended purpose, you can’t beat it! Plus, a little goes a long way, so you do get your money’s worth.
