I love a luminous, hydrating primer, despite the fact that I don’t have dry skin. There’s something beautiful about a hydrating, glowy base, especially if the primer has some blurring properties. Even though a silicone primer will give fill in your pores more, you can definitely get a more naturally perfected look from a lotion-like primer, such as the Milani Prime Light and MAC Strobe Cream.
First of all, I really like both of these primers. The MAC Strobe Cream is a classic primer that packs in the hydration while providing a glowing finish. The product itself feels thick and moisturizing. There is a bit of a sheen to the lotion itself, but when you apply it to your skin you don’t end up looking like Edward Cullen. It pretty much rubs in and just looks like you’re very hydrated and luminous. I don’t think it does much in terms of making your makeup last way longer, but it is a beautiful base for any foundation because it makes your skin look healthy. You can also wear it alone to brighten and lift your natural skin.
The Milani Prime Light is a little less expensive than the MAC Strobe Cream (but only a little bit per ounce). This product feels more like a primer and less like a lotion. The formula is thinner, though it has a similar color and luminescence. I find that this one is less hydrating, but more pore perfecting. I wouldn’t wear it without lotion underneath, because it just isn’t hydrating enough. However, I use it all the time. I find that it adds a blurring and glowing affect that works under any foundation.
What is your preference between these two products? I think they’re both great, even though they are definitely different. Be sure to follow me on Bloglovin’ and Instagram and come back soon!
