Pixi Glow Tonic (Review)

Pixi Glow Tonic (Review)

Toners noticeably improve my skin– that is, if I’m using the right toner. I’ve used different toners on-and-of over the years. Using some sort of toning treatment helps to keep my acne at bay, but if it’s a strong acne treatment it can irritate my […]

I may only be 22, but with every passing year I care a little more about my skin. Granted, I don’t have the high school acne situation I once did (thank God), nor do I have wrinkles, but I’d be hard pressed to find a […]

De-Puffing Your Eyes 101

De-Puffing Your Eyes 101

The school year has begun, which means business, stress, and (perhaps worst of all) less sleep. While makeup is no substitute for actual sleep, there are remedies for de-puffing your eyes and faking-it-til-you-make-it when you are exhausted. Think of it as a morning cup of coffee for your eyes.

My favorite ways to de-puff my eyes are either with a gel roller, or with a cold pack. I have an eye mask filled with gel (like an ice pack), which I leave in the fridge all night, then slip on in the morning. It refreshes and de-puffs the eyes. If forgot to put it in the fridge overnight, you can also throw it in the freezer for ten minutes before wearing it. Sometimes I even sleep in my cooling eye mask in the summer (it feels so nice), but supposedly holding cold spoons to your eyes is an alternative to the eye mask. The only problem with the manual-cooling method is that it’s time consuming, and if you have hit snooze a few times you probably don’t have time to lay around with an ice mask on your face.

Most mornings, I use a gel eye roller. My first gel roller was the Arbonne Soothing Eye Gel, which is a cruelty-free, natural product. The gel is cooling and relaxing, and I use it morning and night. It is a good alternative to eye cream for a girl in her early twenties (with a hectic schedule), but I didn’t think it made a huge difference in the appearance of my eyes. I liked the idea of the Arbonne gel roller, as well as the applicator and how soothing it felt on my eyes. However, my preference is actually the Garnier Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller. I do think that this roller does a better job of de-puffing my eyes than the Arbonne version, and it is much easier to find (I got mine at Target). The tip of the Garnier applicator stays really cold, so when you apply it the product as well as the cooling tip are both working to de-puff and wake up the eyes. De-puffing my eyes is one of my favorite parts of my skincare routine, and it works for makeup wearers and non-makeup wearers alike. I love using a gel eye-roller to make my eyes look and feel better before I start my day.
