I have tried a lot of eyeshadow over the years: Morphe, MAC, Makeup Geek, L’Oreal, Urban Decay, Tarte, and much more. I’m an eyeshadow connaisseur, and while I like a lot of formulas, I have to say that the Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadows really knocked it […]
I adore Anastasia Beverly Hills; their highlighters and eyeshadows are some of the best I’ve ever tried. But Anastasia Beverly Hills is best known for its brow products. ABH is the reigning makeup brand for brows, in part because it was the first brand to offer a wide-range of brow specific products in every color. I have tried many ABH brow products, and as a devotee to the line I can offer a guide to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Products.
Brow Definer: The Brow Definer is so easy to use; the unique twist-up applicator has a long, thin pencil head. This may sound odd at first, but it is perfect for creating brush-like strokes and defining the brow. It’s my favorite brow product, period. The cream-to-powder formula also makes it very bendable, so by running the spoolie through the brow you can blend any thick lines to imitate real hair.
Brow Wiz: Another ABH classic, the Brow Wiz is a reigning brow pencil. It has the same cream-to-powder formula as the Brow Definer, so it is super bendable. The tiny retractable pencil draws fine lines, so you can create a detailed and natural looking brow. This is a great product, I just find that I can do my brows more quickly with the Brow Definer. Also, if you press to hard on your Brow Wiz you can break it, so don’t get too carried away while drawing on your arches.
Dipbrow Pomade: This is the most unique Anastasia brow product. The Dipbrow Pomade is a thick pomade; it has a waxier feel than the brow pencils. However, it is perfect for creating a really bold brow. It can be blended with a spoolie, but it doesn’t blend out as easily as pencil products. I like the Dipbrow for full-glam looks when I want my eyebrows to look as bold as the rest of my makeup. However, I find it takes me a long time to do my brows with the Dipbrow Pomade.
Brow Gel: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel is the superglue of brow gels. One swipe of this gel and your brows are locked in position all day long. One tube lasts for a long time (at least a year, I’d say), so it’s worth the investment.

Contouring is a makeup trend that it seems won’t disappear any time soon; I admit, I love the look of chiseled cheeks. Though contouring scared me at first, it’s become one of my favorite makeup techniques. I’m not huge on nose contouring, but I contour my […]
NYX is one of the trendiest drugstore brands, with some great products. While I can’t advocate for the whole line, there are a few gems (the lip liners are amazing). I tried the NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in the shade Sunbeam, which didn’t really impress me, because it was a little glittery and not as metallic or reflective as I had hoped.
When NYX released the second round of NYX highlighters, the Duo Chromatic Highlighter and the Away We Glow liquid highlighter, I hoped they would be everything the Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator wasn’t. And overall, I have to say, they were.
The Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter has a bit of an odd applicator, because it is a doe-foot applicator. I would really have preferred a squeeze tube, because this highlighter actually makes a beautiful primer. It can be applied all over the face for a very dewy glow (like super radiant) or on top of foundation as a liquid highlighter. The only problem is that it dries down pretty quickly, so you have to make sure that you blend it in right away.
The Duo Chromatic Highlighter in Twilight Tint is undeniably cool. It’s white with blue reflect. There’s no glitter but you can build it up to a pretty intense highlight. It gives you that ethereal glow, but it’s not the most wearable highlight. I know that there are only a few occasions when I would reach for a blue highlighter, but I like that this highlight let me try out the duo chromatic look without spending $40. The formula is very lightweight, with almost no kickback, and it is finely milled. For the price, I think that the quality of this highlighter is very good.
What are your favorite highlighters? The NYX highlighters, especially the Duo Chromatic Highlighters, are some of the best from the drugstore. Leave your comments below, and be sure to follow me on Instagram and Bloglovin’!
I bought two Black Radiance lip glosses at Target a few months back, because I was looking for glittery lip glosses to send me into summer. While I should probably just break down and purchase the famous Jouer Lip Topper in Skinny Dip, I saw […]
I’m just a girl on the hunt for her perfect foundation, and for the past few months my go-to has been the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. NARS is one of my favorite luxury brands, and their products both high quality and sleek. I […]
The Wet n Wild highlighters are probably the most sought-after drugstore highlighters. These highlighters, particularly the Precious Petals highlight, put Wet n Wild back on the map for me. A brand that formally represented the super-cheap makeup of my childhood suddenly became one of the the trendiest brands at Target. It’s tough to get your hands on a Wet n Wild highlight, but if you keep your eyes peeled at drugstores and Walmart, you’ll be bound to find one eventually. I first tried the To Reflect Shimmer Palette in “I’ll Have a Cosmo” and later found the famous “Precious Petals” highlight.
Both of the highlighters surpassed my expectations. “I’ll Have a Cosmo” is especially great when you’ve moved past the first layer (sort of like the e.l.f. baked highlighters, you can scratch of the top for the best results). I actually use this highlighter all the time: the packaging is simple, but sturdy, and the pan size is actually quite large. I love that it’s sort of a peachy gold, good for a warm summer glow.
The ultimate drugstore highlight is “Precious Petals.” It’s a warm gold shade that I believe would flatter a variety of skinniness. Just dip your brush into the pan, apply to your cheeks, and voilà: the prefect glow. You don’t have to spend any time scratching off the top layer to get to the good stuff: this one is perfect from the start.
I quite like the Wet n Wild highlighters. Though the formula is not quite as finely milled and luxurious as high-end formulas, these highlighters look beautiful on the skin. These highlighters are flattering and reflective; I love the colors and the glow they give my skin, because they can be used for a soft highlight or a more dramatic glow. They really are the best of the drugstore market, and if you are lucky enough to spy them, go ahead and spend a few dollars to make them yours.

I’m a huge fan of the lip exfoliating trend. Three years ago, I couldn’t have told you what a lip scrub was. Did they even exist? Who cares: they’re the perfect fix for a chapped lip girl like me. I’ve sampled a few different lip […]
