Benefit Cosmetics is a bit of an unsung hero when it comes to the online makeup world. The brand has a large variety of products, but it seems like only a few are really hyped. There’s the iconic Hoola bronzer (which is iconic for a […]
Arguably the most (in)famous blush, NARS “Orgasm” is a cult favorite. Milani “Luminoso” is often hailed as a dupe, but it is also considered a favorite by many beauty addicts. Chances are, if you clicked on this post, you’ve heard of them both.
First of all, I just have to say: they are not dupes. I’m a bit of a dupe skeptic (two products might be similar in color or formula, but they are almost always different on another level). That’s definitely the case with NARS “Orgasm” and Milani “Luminoso.”
NARS “Orgasm”: I do really like this blush. NARS is my favorite luxury brand, and I love the beautiful packaging, which is sturdy and compact with a lovely mirror. The blush itself is a coral that I believe would be flattering on everybody, with a slight sheen but no shimmer. This blush just makes me glow. The pigment is perfect: I can easily apply it soft, or pack it on for an intense flush. The formula is nice and smooth, perhaps the smoothest blush I’ve ever tried.
Milani “Luminoso”: This blush is a coral that leans peach; while I find “Orgasm” to have more of a red-pink undertone, “Luminoso” has more of an orange undertone. Nonetheless, I think this blush is lovely, especially for glamorous looks. The formula is a little powdery, but the extra fallout seems to come from the intense pigment. Luminoso gives my cheeks a flush of color, but despite its intensity it goes with every makeup look under the sun. It’s never patchy, so it always applies smoothly. And because of the intense pigment, I do think that it would be pretty on a wide range of skin tones.
“Orgasm” is definitely a luxury blush, while “Luminoso” is a top-tier drugstore product. I think you can see this disparity most in their packaging, and a little in their formulas. But I feel beautiful wearing both shades, and that’s what really counts!
What are your favorite luxury and drugstore blushes? Do you prefer NARS “Orgasm” or Milani “Luminoso?”

Tarte is one of my favorite makeup brands. I think I have liked every single Tarte product I have ever bought! It’s such a high-quality line, and their natural products never irritate my skin (even the sensitive skin around my eyes). So when I was […]
Blush can be frightening: a little too much, and you look like the Marquise de Pompadour. As much as I admire 18th century French portraiture, I usually avoid the extreme blush look that was popular back in the day. I like a pop of pink with […]
Benefit’s Dallas bronzer/blush caught my eye because of the cowgirl on the package. A native Nevadan myself, the Western world of cowgirls, cowboys, boots, and horses appeals to me. It is a dusty rose blush, but I like to use it more like a bronzer. It is perfect for my pale skin, and it brings my face to life. I often use it with blush over it, but it is great without blush to simply warm up the skin. It’s not a bronzer for contouring, because of its rosy undertones, but it is perfect for putting on the cheeks and forehead. I love this bronzer because it gives me the perfect summer skin. I attached a swatch photo, but it is difficult to see the bronzer in the photo. But trust me, it’s wonderful.
I purchased the Dallas lip gloss when Benefit had their big sale this year. I was surprised because it is more coral than I had anticipated, but it does look good with the bronzer. It is one of the most plush glosses I have ever tried, and it isn’t particularly sticky. The standout is definitely the bronzer, but I like the lip gloss too and reach for it pretty frequently because of the easy applicator.
