I love pink. Call me extra, but there’s nothing that speaks to my soul like fuchsia (well, except for maybe millennial pink or a white furry throw). I don’t wear a lot of color (I tend to go for the all- black look whenever possible) […]

I love a good drugstore concealer. I tend to be a little heavy-handed with my concealer (both in terms of application and my never-ending desire to purchase just one more concealer) so a budget buy is something I love discovering. The Wet n Wild Photo […]
I’ve developed a foundation addiction. High end or drugstore, matte or dewy, cream or liquid: I love it all. There’s a certain satisfaction to having a perfect canvas, especially when it lasts all day. I’m also a sucker for foundation packaging, and I am a firm believer in “different foundations for different situations.” A night on the town just requires a different foundation than a day running errands. Here’s a look at my foundation stash.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation: I don’t love this foundation, but I don’t hate it either. The shade is a little dark for me in the winter, but in the summer it’s spot on. I love how easy to apply this is, and it sets down nicely with powder. While it isn’t exactly long-wearing, it handles summer heat and humidity really well. Plus it’s easy to apply. Overall, I like this and I’ll use it up, but probably won’t repurchase because there are other foundations I like more.
L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Foundation: I loved this foundation so much I actually just finished the bottle. The shade was a little too dark for me, so I had to mix it with a lighter shade, but I can definitely remedy that problem. It’s medium-high coverage with a natural finish. I always set it, but it wears well through the day. Just a solid pick, especially for the price tag.
NARS All Day Luminous Foundation: I’m on the fence about this one. This foundation is very thin and lightweight, and I think it works best when you only use a little. You can easily build it up to full coverage, and it still feels lightweight, but sometimes it sinks into my fine lines when I apply a lot. A little goes a long way, so you get the bang for your buck, but it just isn’t my favorite.
L’Oreal Pro Matte: This might be the best ever drugstore foundation. It just makes my skin look so matte and beautiful. It doesn’t sink into my lines or crease. I think it perfects pores and it doesn’t have to be set with a powder. It may not be ideal for dry skin.
L’Oreal Pro Glow: I love this one, too. It gives the skin such a glowy look without being too oily. I do like to set it with a powder or mix it with a more matte foundation, to ensure that it doesn’t sink into my smile lines. It’s also nice mixed with the Pro Matte for a satin finish.
No7 Lift & Luminate: This is one of my favorite foundations. Ever. It is so hydrating, and I think it would be perfect for every season. It just makes my skin look so healthy and luminous; it somehow perfects my skin without making it look like I’m wearing too much makeup. It’s the most versatile foundation in my drawer; I could apply a little with my fingers for a day at the beach, or powder it down for a glam night.
Diorskin Forever: This foundation is the epitome of luxury. Pore-perfecting, natural finish, long wearing… the list goes on. The price tag is hefty, but this foundation is an all-time favorite. It even lasts all day without setting powder. It doesn’t sink into my fine lines, and it’s just so beautiful. I would recommend getting a Sample from Sephora to try this one out; that’s what I did, and I fell in love and purchased a full size.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid: I recently acquired this foundation, so I’ve only used it a few times, but so far, so good. It doesn’t sneak into my smile lines. I can set it with a powder for a hardcore finish, but it is still long-wearing without powder. The shade range is huge and the price tag is moderate; it may become an all time favorite.

No7 Lift and Luminate Foundation has become my summer makeup obsession. No7 (sometimes called Boots) is a UK-based drugstore beauty brand that has recently become available in the USA. If you keep your eyes peeled, sometimes you can find a Target, Ulta, or Walgreens with […]
I love lip liner, and I always have (even before Kylie Jenner made re-popularized it). The secret to my everlasting red lip, the first makeup look I claimed as my own, was layering lip liner beneath my lipstick. I still swear by this technique.
Whether I use lip liner to define my lips, make them appear larger, or enhance the color, it’s a staple in my makeup drawer. Lip pencil can be worn alone, because it lasts a long time (and it’s generally matte). I also like wearing lip pencil under lip gloss, because I think it creates a more polished look overall.
My favorite lip liners are the NYX lip pencils (I usually opt for the original slim lip pencil or the suede lip pencils) and the MAC lip liners (classic & fabulous). I also like the Huda Beauty Lip Contours, which are creamy but long-lasting. The MAC lip pencils in particular come in a variety of colors. I generally like to match my lip pencil and the lipstick or gloss I pair it with.

I have tried a lot of eyeshadow over the years: Morphe, MAC, Makeup Geek, L’Oreal, Urban Decay, Tarte, and much more. I’m an eyeshadow connaisseur, and while I like a lot of formulas, I have to say that the Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadows really knocked it […]
