Wet n Wild Highlighters Review and Swatches

Wet n Wild Highlighters Review and Swatches

The Wet n Wild highlighters are probably the most sought-after drugstore highlighters. These highlighters, particularly the Precious Petals highlight, put Wet n Wild back on the map for me. A brand that formally represented the super-cheap makeup of my childhood suddenly became one of the the […]

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost Highlighters: Ice Cold and Princess Cut (Review & Swatches)

The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost Highlighters are incredible. There’s no way about it: they are the best highlighters for that super metallic glow, at least of the highlighters I have tried (and let me tell you, I’ve tried a lot). These highlighters are so […]

e.l.f. Baked Highlighters Review + Swatches

e.l.f. Baked Highlighters Review + Swatches

The e.l.f. highlighters are the best drugstore highlighters I have tried to date- I’ve had mixed experiences with NYX, and I like the Wet n Wild “I’ll Have a Cosmo” highlighter well enough, but I definitely prefer the e.l.f. baked highlighters.

First of all the e.l.f. highlighters are so cheap! They’re only $4.00 each, and you can order them online. I purchased mine at Target. Target seems to be stocking more e.l.f. products, which is great. I have “Pink Diamonds” and “Moonlight Pearls.”

“Pink Diamonds” is a subtle, rosy glow. I like wearing it as a highlight, but it’s beautiful to give the cheeks some color as a blush or a blush topper. “Moonlight Pearls” is my favorite, a champagne highlight (similar in color to the Mary-Lou Manizer but theBalm). I find that I can build “Moonlight Pearls” up to a more reflective highlight than “Pink Diamonds,” but they’re both pretty.

I saw some youtubers scrape off the top layer of the e.l.f. baked highlighters to get better results, and I have to say this trick works. The e.l.f. highlighters are definitely better once the top layer has been scraped away. All you have to do is take a comb or a stiff bristled brush and scratch off the top layer. Then you have a great highlighter!

I find these highlighters to be nicely milled and pigmented, as well as reflective and buildable. Honestly, they’re so inexpensive that it’s really worthwhile if you want to experiment with highlighters or expand your collection. They aren’t as finely milled or pigmented as high-end highlighters, but for the price they are solid. The container is petite, which is great for storage and travel as a bonus.
