Tarte Pro Glow to Go Palette (Review & Swatches)

Tarte Pro Glow to Go Palette (Review & Swatches)

The Tarte Pro Glow to Go Palette was a gift from my sister, and it’s been rocking my world. This little palette is perfect for me, because it is travel sized (but has a really nice mirror) and has perfect shades for fair skin tones. It […]

Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation Review

Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation Review

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation was a major release for the brand that grew out of a monopoly on the perfect eyebrow. While bigger brands, such as Bobbi Brown, Tarte, or M.A.C. offer multiple foundation options, ABH just has one stick foundation. Stick foundations have been trending in past months, and Anastasia Beverly Hills never fails to keep up with the latest.

When the ABH stick foundation first came out, it received mixed reviews. I heard more negative reviews than positive about this foundation, but I wouldn’t say it is a bad foundation. It’s moderately priced, and there’s a large shade selection. It’s a medium coverage foundation: I apply a lot of foundation, right from the stick to my face. I’ve tried applying just a few stripes then blending it in, but I think it looks better if I apply it all over my face then blend with either a brush or a beauty blender. It never becomes full coverage, but it is a nice soft matte finish.

Right after I apply this foundation, I like it. I don’t love it, it doesn’t give me flawless doll skin, but it gives me a nice base. My biggest problem is that it isn’t as long lasting as I like. It wears for approximately 4-6 hours, and then it starts to disappear. If I put it on right before dinner, it still looks good after dinner. But if I put it on at the beginning of the day, by the end of the day it has totally disappeared.

If I were to give this foundation a letter grade, I would say it’s a C. It looks good, and it doesn’t irritate my skin, the price is decent, and there are many shades. Still, it doesn’t give me that “wow factor” that I hope for with my makeup.

Becca Lowlight Sculpting Perfector Review

Becca Lowlight Sculpting Perfector Review

I’ve mentioned before that I love cream contouring, but I think that I have found my favorite cream contouring product (or contouring product period) to date.

I don’t hear a lot about the Becca Lowlight Sculpting Perfector in the internet beauty world, which is a shame, because I think it is amazing. I actually like it a little better than my Anastasia Beverly Hills cream contour kit!

When I wear the Becca Lowlight Sculpting Perfector, I like to use it with a little oil to make it easier to blend (although this step isn’t necessary). I put a tiny drop of the Tarte Maracuja Oil into the pan, and dip my brush into the product. Then I contour my cheeks and my forehead, occasionally my nose or chin. I find that it looks beautiful and blends into my foundation with a flawless finish. I like to pair it with Tarte Shape Tape or another concealer that is a shade lighter than my foundation, because it gives that multi-dimensional, finished effect. This two step contour routine is also very simple. With a little practice, I think everybody could master it!

The only downside is that the Lowlight Sculpting Perfecter only comes in one shade. It’s a neutral, mid-toned hue that would work on most anybody from fair to medium skin tones, but if your skin tone is deep, this won’t work for you. Hopefully Becca will come out with more shades soon!
