I work in an art museum, and we recently had a huge anniversary event. Because the event was black tie, I broke out a floor length gown, curled my hair, and (of course) went full glam. I was so wrapped up in the excitement of […]

There are two types of people in the world: those who are willing to spend their entire paycheck on makeup, and those who are not. Just kidding… kind of. I know that not everybody is makeup-obsessed like me, and that for some, it’s just not […]
Fall is cozy and wonderful, a time of muted neutrals and warm coffee. I love the scents and colors of fall, from the outdoors to the indoors. And, of course, I love the scents and colors of fall makeup. Here are my fall beauty favorites:
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lip Color in Lover: I love this color for fall. It’s neutral, but instead of a peachy or pink nude, it’s more of a mauve. I like that it’s a subtle color, but it’s a little darker and cooler. Plus, the formula is amazing, long-wearing and comfortable. I want to get more colors in this line!
CK One: I adore this fragrence, which *technically* is a cologne. It was a hip and happening unisex scent in the 90s, and I love how it smells. I prefer something fresh or musky to something sweet, so I tend to gravitate towards more masculine scents anyways, especially for fall. There’s something about this scent that makes me feel cozy on a cool day. Plus, I’m all about the 90s, and this scent was a 90s icon.
Melt Cosmetics Dark Matter Stack: These eyeshadows are beautiful, buttery, and great for sensitive skin. They blend like a dream, and every single shade screams fall. Every eyeshadow in this palette is matte; there’s Blurr, a warm cream shade, Unseen, a warm brown, Unseen, a brick red-brown, and Dark Matter, the blackest of blacks. Versatile enough for a beauty guru and simple enough for a beginner, these eyeshadows are amazing. If I had to pick one palette to use every day, this would be it.
Real Techniques Bold Metals Brushes: I love these brushes. The long, sleek handles, the fluffy bristles, the price point… they’re perfect. The perfect combination of functionality and beauty.
Diorskin Forever Foundation: This foundation is so beautiful. The shade Fair Almond matches me perfectly, and the formula is just right on my acne-prone skin. My skin is normal, perhaps even a little dry, but I live in a humid climate so I get a little oily. I would say this foundation is a medium coverage, natural finish, but it’s somehow so complexion perfecting. I don’t have to set it with powder (though I usually do). It’s my favorite for any season, but something about the satin-matte finish is especially nice for autumn.

Tarte is one of my favorite makeup brands (in case you haven’t noticed). I picked up the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation over a year ago, and I’ve been using it consistently ever since. At first, I was just so-so on this foundation. […]
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks have been in the liquid lipstick game since the very beginning. Almost every brand has a liquid lipstick formula now, but a few years ago Still was one of the only liquid lipsticks I can remember seeing on […]
The Huda Beauty Lip Contours made quite a splash when they hit the market a couple of years ago, but I didn’t pick them up until they had been on a market for a few months. I’ve been putting them to the test for a few months,
These lip pencils can be used alone, or in pairs. The idea is that you use a slightly darker pencil to line the lip and fill the lip with a lighter shade, creating the illusion of a fuller lip. The pencils have suggested pairings, though they can also be used individually. While lining the lips with a darker shade isn’t a new technique, most products aren’t actually marketed for this use. As lip liners, the Huda Beauty Lip Contours apply creamy but dry matte. They’re very pigmented, and they glide on smoothly.
I think the best quality of the Huda Beauty Lip Contours is that they’re very long-wearing, especially when you use them all over the lips. The formula is very matte, so it feels a little dry on the lips. If you want a glossier finish, just apply a satin lipstick or a gloss over top.
I don’t love all of the recommended pairings, but I think the color range is beautiful. Of course, the range isn’t as wide as my all-time favorite MAC lip liners, but the colors offered are nice. A few different nudes (a more mauve nude, a warmer nude) and some bold berry shades. The only disappointment for me is that the “lip contours” aren’t really that different from a standard lip liner/pencil. While these were marketed in a particularly clever way, you’re still essentially just filling your lips in with a lip-liner. It’s an effective technique, but you could do it with any pencil.
I would say buy the Huda Beauty lip contours if you want a high quality lip liner, which can be worn as a matte lipstick. The pencils are all creamy and pigmented, and they last a long time because a little goes a long way. I think Huda Beauty makes great products, and I look forward to trying more of her line.

The Tarte Pro Glow to Go Palette was a gift from my sister, and it’s been rocking my world. This little palette is perfect for me, because it is travel sized (but has a really nice mirror) and has perfect shades for fair skin tones. It […]
I’m just a girl on the hunt for her perfect foundation, and for the past few months my go-to has been the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. NARS is one of my favorite luxury brands, and their products both high quality and sleek. I […]
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation was a major release for the brand that grew out of a monopoly on the perfect eyebrow. While bigger brands, such as Bobbi Brown, Tarte, or M.A.C. offer multiple foundation options, ABH just has one stick foundation. Stick foundations have been trending in past months, and Anastasia Beverly Hills never fails to keep up with the latest.
When the ABH stick foundation first came out, it received mixed reviews. I heard more negative reviews than positive about this foundation, but I wouldn’t say it is a bad foundation. It’s moderately priced, and there’s a large shade selection. It’s a medium coverage foundation: I apply a lot of foundation, right from the stick to my face. I’ve tried applying just a few stripes then blending it in, but I think it looks better if I apply it all over my face then blend with either a brush or a beauty blender. It never becomes full coverage, but it is a nice soft matte finish.
Right after I apply this foundation, I like it. I don’t love it, it doesn’t give me flawless doll skin, but it gives me a nice base. My biggest problem is that it isn’t as long lasting as I like. It wears for approximately 4-6 hours, and then it starts to disappear. If I put it on right before dinner, it still looks good after dinner. But if I put it on at the beginning of the day, by the end of the day it has totally disappeared.
If I were to give this foundation a letter grade, I would say it’s a C. It looks good, and it doesn’t irritate my skin, the price is decent, and there are many shades. Still, it doesn’t give me that “wow factor” that I hope for with my makeup.
I think I would like to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Sticks. Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation? What do you think of this product? Comment, follow, and check out my social media!
