Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balm Review

Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balm Review

I’m a huge fan of the lip exfoliating trend. Three years ago, I couldn’t have told you what a lip scrub was. Did they even exist? Who cares: they’re the perfect fix for a chapped lip girl like me. I’ve sampled a few different lip […]

Battle of the Stick Eyeshadows

Battle of the Stick Eyeshadows

Stick eyeshadows are a like cream eyeshadows, but better. Most cream eyeshadows come in a pot, but instead these stick shadows come in a handy pen-like container. The eyeshadows themselves lie between an eyeliner and a cream shadow: the packaging makes them more like an […]

Summer Fragrance Guide

Summer Fragrance Guide

I’ve had an on-again-off-again relationship with perfume, but the summer of 2016 has brought me not one but two ideal fragrances. Both fragrances are perfect for summer (but I am looking forward to wearing them year round). Shopping for perfume these past few months has inspired me to put together this summer fragrance guide, as well as a description of my two current favorites.

First of all, the Sephora Favorites Perfume Samplers are the perfect way to select a perfume. You purchase a kit with a bunch of different perfume samples, take them home and try them out, then redeem the coupon in the package for a full size bottle of your favorite perfume. The hardest part of perfume shopping is that sometimes a perfume that smelled great in the store doesn’t smell as good on your body, so the Sephora Perfume Samplers are the perfect solutions. Just make sure that the sampler you purchase has a perfume voucher inside it. This was how I found Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. According to the Sephora website, this perfume contains notes of Sicilian Citron, Bluebell, Granny Smith Apple, Jasmine Sambac, Bamboo, White Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, and Musk. The overall effect is a beachy, summery scent with a formal twist. I see this as a great perfume for a summer evening out or a nice brunch. I like that it smells fresh but not overwhelmingly floral.

When summer and spring roll around, it seems like the major fragrance family on the market is florals. Strong florals give me a bit of a headache, but I love beachy fragrances. The first time I smelled Bobbi Brown Beach, I fell in love. It smells just like the beach at Carlsbad, California, where I spent many summer vacations. Sephora says this perfume is a “blend of jasmine, sea spray, and mandarin.” It is lightly floral, but the sea spray effect dominates to create the true “beach” feel. I recently received a compliment about how good I smelled wearing this perfume, and I think it will be my everyday go-to.
